Here’s one example of how our alarm system can simplify your operation and at the same time improve safety and reduce cost.
If your overhead crane is currently equipped with a hoist overload device that prevents lifting an over-capacity load, chances are the overload device simply prevents the hoist from lifting any weight over a preset limit by breaking the directional command from the controller. That’s fine as long as the operator knows that’s what happened and what to do about it. However, too often the operator does not know what is preventing him from lifting the load. If he knew the load was over capacity, he probably wouldn’t have attempted the lift. He may interpret the failure to lift the load as a mechanical or electrical failure and request a maintenance technician to trouble shoot a system that is working as intended. Here’s where our system simplifies the process, saves you money, and improves your plant safety. If your overload limit were also connected to our alarm system, the operator would have heard this announcement through the alarm system loud speaker (and cab mounted speaker if applicable):
“Attention: The load you are attempting to lift exceeds the safe lifting capacity of this machine. Lower the load to the floor and decrease the attached weight before continuing to attempt this lift!”
Our SAMPLE ALARMS Presentation can be viewed via PC/laptop, and it will open up in a separate tab or window. Speakers are required!
